Travel Notes
A Summer Through Spain & Portugal
I traveled through Spain and Portugal with my mum during the summer, moving from sunlit streets to old churches, hilltop views, and the sea. The trip felt full of history: stone roads, tiled facades, cathedrals, and coastlines where the light kept changing.
We walked a lot through different cities in Spain, always alert in busy places and careful with thieves, but the beauty kept pulling us forward. What stayed with me most was the opulence and scale of the churches: human architecture and art flourishing into something almost overwhelming.
It was a long thirteen-day trip with my mum, starting in Madrid and ending in Barcelona. We crossed much of Spain, visiting major cities and wrestling with place names such as Segovia and Seville, then slowing down in quiet, peaceful towns like Toledo and Ronda. We also reached beautiful port cities such as Porto, where history, architecture, churches, and the sea kept changing the mood of the journey. The richness and luxury of the churches genuinely shocked me; everywhere, it felt as if human architecture and art were flourishing. I also kept thinking about all the beautiful places I had visited before without a camera, and felt a little regret that I had not been able to photograph them.
